There are four main kinds of benefits to schools from getting involved with Business

1. Help raise young people's standards and improve the quality of learning

  • enhance the delivery of the National Curriculum
  • improve the quality of CEG, PSHE and Citizenship
  • assist in the delivery and assessment of all six Key skills and support the development of wider skills such as creativity and enterprise
  • help prepare young people for the world of work, including employability
  • improve your students' motivation, attendance and the quality of their learning
  • add a realistic and 'fun' dimension to school-based learning for young people

2. Help develop teachers

  • help with strategies for improving the quality of teaching
  • improve teachers' knowledge of the world of work
  • improve teachers' professional and managerial skills
  • energise teachers and provide them with opportunities to learn from and influence business and industry

3. Help enhance the reputation of the school

  • allow teachers and students to act as ambassadors for the school/college
  • improve the image and profile of the school/college in the local community
  • create positive news items in local media

4. Give access to resources

  • provide financial resources
  • give access to the resources of company volunteers
  • give access to management and financial expertise
  • provide alternative learning environments for students and teachers
  • bring adults other than teachers into the classroom who have specialist knowledge which can enrich teaching and learning
